Dr.
Garcia's leadership and communications skills have been instrumental
in steering a number of important public projects to completion.
She secured funds for the Trinity
River Project and spearheaded the development of Dallas'
newest Animal Shelter.
- When the funding for the Latino
Cultural Center fell short, she secured the final $1
million required to begin construction.
- Dr. Garcia was instrumental in bringing the largest grocery store in the metroplex (Now,
Fiesta) to Westmoreland Station in Southern Dallas County.
- In conjunction with other council members,
she guided the passage of two of the city's largest
capital bond programs: a $1.35 billion bond package
in 2006, and the $550 million bond package in 2003.
- She also helped spur the economic development
engines of Pinnacle Park and the Bishop
Arts District, along with many new businesses that
have created hundreds of new jobs.
