Jobs. Opportunities. Stable neighborhoods
with diverse retail.
I hear people all over District 4 saying these are the issues
that matter most to them ... especially in times like these.
Yet when is the last time you saw a county commissioner attending
the groundbreaking of a new development in your community? How
frequently does a county commissioner provide you with details
about how he or she is working to expand business services near
where you live?
I vow that as your county commissioner, I will provide assertive leadership in working with municipal leaders across the district to make
your wishes a reality.
And, I will communicate frequently — with elected officials, developers and neighborhood stakeholders
— to increase economic opportunity district-wide.
You bet they can.
By asking residents what services they need ... and then working
closely with developers to make it easier for them to bring those
services to your neighborhood. By appointing bright businesspeople
to the boards of the many tax incentive finance (TIF) districts
in District 4 ... and then staying informed as to the progress
those boards are making.
By being proactive rather than reactive when it comes to generating businesses and
employment district-wide.
I think the proof is in the pudding.
Fort Worth Avenue, Bishop Arts and the North Oak Cliff Gateway
are among the most exciting engines of economic development in
Dallas right now ... and all three have been a part of the district
I served as a Dallas city councilperson from 2001-2009.
I also know my experience serving on the
City of Dallas's Finance and Audit Committee — and my sitting
in on every meeting of the Economic Development committee during
my eight years as a council member — will be invaluable when
I become your county commissioner for District 4.
By listening, communicating and rolling up our sleeves, I know that
together we can bring a new era of economic vitality to Dallas County
District 4.
I'm ready to go ... are you?
