You have a right to know how well your elected
officials are addressing the issues faced by the county.
I've discovered that's not always easy to
do when it comes to the affairs of Dallas County.
My goal will be to make the work of the Commissioner's
Court more visible to the citizens whose lives are influenced
by its decisions. And to make it easier for residents to understand
what work the county is undertaking and how wisely county tax
dollars are being spent.
My background as a city councilperson will
help — for transparency is heavily emphasized at that level
of government.
For example, Dallas residents can easily use
the Internet to see how far along City Hall is in completing improvements
recommended in an efficiency study. I believe all the residents
of Dallas County District 4 — whether they live in Dallas,
Coppell, Duncanville or Grand Prairie — deserve similar
access to similar information as it pertains to Dallas County.
So as your commissioner, I'll work tirelessly
to ensure the county Web site contains the information you need
and provides that information in a way that is easy for you to
find.
I will also be an advocate for encouraging
constituents to attend those proceedings the public is allowed
to observe.
Of course, my door will always be open, and
my phone will always be answered, when you have a question about
how the commissioners court is addressing the issues that affect
you and your family.
